2026 cost guide · Quad Cities
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Prescott?
Nationally, a minor kitchen remodel averaged about $28,500 and a major mid-range remodel about $83,000 in the 2025 Cost vs. Value report. Angi's 2026 project data puts the typical kitchen between roughly $14,600 and $41,600. Quad Cities prices depend most on cabinets, layout changes and what turns up inside older walls.

What the national studies say
| Source | Figure | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Cost vs. Value 2025 (Zonda) | $28,458 minor · $82,793 major mid-range · $164,104 major upscale | Modeled contractor cost for a fixed scope, averaged across 119 markets |
| Angi 2026 cost data | $26,943 average · $14,589–$41,554 typical | What homeowners actually paid on about 13,100 completed projects |
| Houzz 2026 Kitchen Trends | $20,000 minor · $55,000 major (medians) | Self-reported spending by renovating homeowners |
The studies measure different things, which is why their numbers disagree. Cost vs. Value prices one defined job; Angi and Houzz reflect what real homeowners spent, including many smaller projects.
What drives the price up or down here
Cabinets are the biggest single line item, often close to a third of the budget. Painting or refacing sound boxes costs a fraction of new custom cabinets. Semi-custom cabinets are the middle ground most Quad Cities homeowners choose.
Layout changes cost more than finishes. Keeping the sink, range and refrigerator where they are avoids new plumbing, gas and electrical runs, and usually avoids a permit. Moving the sink to an island or removing a wall adds trades, inspections and weeks.
Older homes carry more risk. In downtown Prescott, plan a contingency of 10 to 20 percent for wiring, plumbing or framing that has to be brought up to code once walls are open. Newer Prescott Valley homes usually need less.
Distance and season matter a little. Some contractors add travel for outlying parts of Chino Valley and Dewey-Humboldt, and spring is the busiest booking season across the area.

Does a kitchen remodel pay off at resale?
Smaller projects return a bigger share of their cost. The 2025 Cost vs. Value report found a minor mid-range kitchen remodel recouped about 113 percent of its cost nationally, while a major upscale remodel recouped about 36 percent. If you plan to sell within a few years, a refresh is the safer bet. If you plan to stay ten years or more, build the kitchen you want to live with.
Common questions
What is the cheapest way to update a kitchen?
Keep the layout, paint or reface the cabinets, and replace counters, sink, faucet, hardware and lighting. That touches everything you see without paying for new plumbing or electrical runs.
Should I pay a deposit before work starts?
A deposit is normal, especially to order cabinets. Get the payment schedule in writing, tie later payments to finished milestones, and only pay a contractor whose Arizona ROC license you have checked.
Why do kitchen quotes vary so much?
Usually because they are not pricing the same scope. A good estimate lists the cabinet line and construction, counter material and thickness, appliance allowances and what is excluded. Use that list to compare any bids line by line.
