Refresh, remodel or rebuild?

A refresh keeps the layout and the cabinet boxes. Cabinets are painted or refaced, and the counters, sink, faucet, backsplash and lighting are replaced. It touches everything you see, avoids new plumbing and electrical runs, and usually takes 2 to 4 weeks on site. It is the best value when the kitchen works but looks dated.

A mid-range remodel replaces the cabinets, counters, appliances and flooring in the same footprint. It is the most common project in the Quad Cities' 1990s and 2000s homes, where plumbing and wiring are already in the right places. Plan 4 to 6 weeks on site plus cabinet lead time.

A full remodel changes the room itself: a wall comes down, the island moves, the sink or range relocates, or the kitchen opens to a dining or great room. That brings in framing, plumbing, gas and electrical work, permits, and sometimes an engineer. Plan 6 to 12 weeks, and hold a larger contingency in an older home.

Not sure which you need? The in-home estimate answers that. A licensed local remodeler looks at the kitchen with you and prices the options side by side, so you can see what each step up costs before you decide. Typical ranges for each path are in the kitchen remodel cost guide, and town-by-town notes are on the service areas page.

Every project includes

  • A free in-home walkthrough and a written, itemized estimate, with no obligation.
  • An independent remodeler holding an active Arizona Registrar of Contractors license, which you can verify on the Arizona ROC contractor search.
  • Permits pulled and inspections scheduled when the work requires them.
  • Dust protection, daily cleanup and removal of the old kitchen.
  • A final walkthrough and the warranty paperwork for cabinets, counters and appliances.

Common questions

What is the most popular kitchen project in the Quad Cities?

A mid-range remodel in the existing layout: new cabinets, quartz counters, lighting and appliances. It upgrades the whole room without the cost of moving plumbing or walls.

Can I do the kitchen in phases?

Yes. Many homeowners start with counters and lighting and replace cabinets later, or the reverse. Ask your remodeler to plan the first phase so it does not have to be torn out in the second.
